Profile
Sakra terminal was officially commissioned on Frbuary 1994 as one
of the state-of-the-art industrial terminals worldwide. It is strategically
located on Jurong Island, which is one of the premier petrochemical
production site in Asia.
One of the unique features of Sakra is industrial terminal concept.
Here Vopak takes care of the storage and handling of raw material
and as well as redelivery of finished products for the various adjacent
chemical producers thus allowing them the flexibility to concentrate
on manufacturing and marketing. Another advantage is the economy
of scale created by the sharing of common falilities and services
among the various chemical producers within the chemical complex
at one location.
Sakra has a total capacity of 288,000 cbm for petrochemical and
chemical products, serving mainly the adjacent chemical producers.
It comprises of a total of 71 tanks serviced by dedicated pipelines,
dedicated and shared general facilities. It is supported by 7 truck-loading
bays, 3 drumming machines and 1 efficiently managed covered warehouse.
In addition, it also operates 3 jetties with the capacity of handling
vessels up to 45,000 deadweight tons. Sakra also provides third
party waste treatment and general utilities on site.
Sakra recieves all bulk liquid raw materials via the jetties and
stores them in dedicated raw material tanks. The raw material is
then fed either continuously into the production process or in batches
to a day-tank via pipelines. In return, the terminal receives run-down
finished products into dedicated product tanks via pipelines. The
finished products are then redelivered to other plants via other
pipelines, vessels, tank trucks, ISO containers or drums depending
on customer's instructions.
Vopak is committed to provide world-class services through our continuous
efforts in exploring ways to create more values and cost effectiveness
to our valued industrial terminals customers.
